2024 Mayors of Spartanburg County Committee for People with Disabilites Walk and Roll
Each October, which is Disabilities Awareness Month, the Mayors of Spartanburg County Committee for People with Disabilities holds a Walk and Roll advocacy event and followed by a presentation and dance. This year, the walk was on Wednesday, October 16th. Over 200 students, teachers and community leaders started the walk at Morgan Square in downtown Spartanburg led by Mayor Jerome Rice and ended at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. Students were then bused to Spartanburg High School where a presentation with speakers was held. The highlight each year for the students is the dance with a DJ. This walk is so important to highlight the fact that individuals with disabilities have many abilities that they can bring to a job if they are given the chance. If you are an employer, please consider hiring individuals of all abilities for positions within your organization.

Disabilities Committee Meeting - December 3, 2024
The mission of the Disabilities Committee is to make recommendations to the full Upstate Workforce Board on its full range of disability access challenges and to suggest ways to facilitate the participation of consumers with disabilities. This committee is intended to provide an effective means for participants with interests in this area to exchange ideas and develop recommendations for accessibility solutions, which will in turn enhance the board’s policy making on disability access challenges.

Youth Committee Meeting - December 10, 2024
The Youth Committee is designated to oversee the needs of our youth participants. They are responsible for reviewing and recommending policies related to WIOA youth services. They are also responsible for reviewing budgets related to current youth programs and approving budget modifications.
